Bath & Pool Fun with Nuby Bath Links

Hey Everyone!

We got our hands on some Nuby Bath Links for my daughter and they are quite the hit with her! I won’t lie, even my four-year-old son enjoys playing with them. These are great for learning and having fun all at the same time.

They come with an adorable starfish, crab, and turtle along with multiple links in different shapes.

These bath links are great for little ones six months of age and older. They come in an adorable package of fifteen links. I really like how the package has a handle so it’s easy for even the young ones to carry around. My daughter enjoys carrying them around in their package and they have really helped her with her coordination and development, and it gives her something to play with while I wash her hair.

b3e07910-5dc5-4165-915e-f9a6d73a4c43

They are BPA free, just like most other awesome Nuby products! You can find them on Amazon too! One of my favorite places to shop.

We have used these links in the tub, but since the weather has gotten nicer we brought them out to the kiddie pool to play also. My daughter really enjoy’s this because she can squirt them wherever she wants outside and rearrange them in all different orders.

We also started to pretend that the pool was an ocean for the turtle, crab, and starfish links and we were keeping them safe in their home.

They truly bring out the imagination in my kiddos.

I really enjoy how versatile this product is. We have used them in the tub, the pool, and even without water. They are so fun!

It makes me so happy as a mother to know that Nuby puts out products that help my children develop while having fun at the same time.

June Goals

Happy June Everyone!

Summer is so close and I’m so ready. The month of May went by so quickly that I completely forgot to post my monthly goals. I guess that’s mom life, you forget a lot…

I’m hopping back on it and setting a list of goals for June. I’m hoping to have a better month and can achieve these goals. I’m almost positive that the gross weather has finally broke here in Southern PA, and we can start enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather.

Fingers crossed.

I always think short term goals are much easier to achieve than long term goals.

I don’t know, they just seem more realistic to me.

So here we go! My list of goals. Do you have any?

Friday pool days. Perks of being a stay at home mom during the summer, pool days! All the time! While we have a couple small blow up pools at our house, my parents have a gigantic pool that the kiddos love. Since my mother is off on Friday’s and my son is only going to summer camp two days a week, Fridays will be designated pool days at Nana and Pops!

img_0206

Visit local attractions. My wonderful, hardworking husband can receive free tickets to the Zoo, Aquarium, and Science Center all in our area. Score! On the days that my son is home I want to get us out to those places and have some fun. If anyone knows me personally, I hate being home all the time. I like to get out on some adventures. Plus, it wears the kids out, so they sleep good at night. My son is also begging to visit Knoebel’s too, so that’s on the list also.

88c32425-c956-4107-8983-09e3b8a7f8d7

Cardio, Cardio, Cardio. I’ve slacked hard on my cardio. With the cold weather and rainy days, I barely got out to run. I’m hoping to put more time into my cardio sessions and really sweat my butt off. My daughter enjoys being outside, so she can tag along too. She wakes up in the morning, and goes right to the side door to get outside. Luckily, she can’t reach the knob yet. Usually, she gets the better end of the stick when it comes to cardio. She naps.

f3b55e17-20c2-49a5-a8ee-f6c9cd52815c

Save some extra money for vacation. In August we are going with a bunch of family to the Outer Banks and I can’t be any more excited for it. With now have two little ones coming along, I wanted to make sure to have plenty of spending money to spoil their cute little selves all week long. Plus, I want a date night with the hubby, and I’m sure that can get pricey too. Let’s not forget food and wine… lots of wine.

img_0339

Cut out processed foods. Chick-fil-A has been my go to lately. It’s all I want to eat. The craving is real. I’ve been going there at least once a week. It doesn’t help that they always send you free food in their app. As much as I want to hate eating processed food, I love it. I love it a lot. I’d eat some french fries every day if I could. But, my body is telling me to stop. So I want to go a full month with no fast food restaurants! This one is going to be tough…

Have a yard sale. My kids have so many toys that are placed all over the house. Along with clothes. I can’t even fit all their clothes into their dressers and closets. It’s insane. I’m going to spend a day and go through everything. I want to have a yard sale to get rid of some items. They are having one at my son’s preschool in a few weeks, so I think this will be an easy goal to achieve. I just need to make sure my son isn’t watching me while I get rid of some toys, because we all know how they can’t let go of anything. Ever.

With those being said…

Bring on summer, we are so ready!

Learning To Read

Hi Everyone!

We are at the stage where my oldest is starting to learn how to read. I am so impressed with how well he is doing for only being four years old. He is learning so much at his pre-school, I couldn’t be more thankful!

But it’s not all that wonderful when we get home. I always here how phenomenal he does in school, so I want him to be able to do the same at home.

Besides his occasional homework he must complete, I wanted to find different ways to incorporate learning to read words at home also. We’ve came up with a few ideas that are really helping advance in his reading skills so of course we wanted to share.

Reading. Of course, this a no brainer. Obviously reading books helps you learn to read. What we do is I read most of the book. Any sight word I see that I know he has learned at pre-k, I stop and see if he’s following along and I let him read those words. We go through the books together and both read. It’s a fun way for him and I to have some bonding time, all while learning at the same time.

Bath Time Letters. We’ve recently gotten our hands on some Nuby Bath Letters and Numbers. These are a must buy for little ones 18 months and older who are learning the alphabet, spelling words, and reading. Let’s not forget there are numbers included, which is great for learning also! These soft foam letters float in the water and easily stick to the walls to make spelling words so simple. It includes all 26 letters and numbers 1-10. They are so fun for bath time.

2721537a-f8d6-4095-a5b2-817e354517bc

My son enjoys attempting to spell certain words I ask him spell (especially his name), or I’ll spell a word and make him read it.  To make it a little more fun, if he gets the word wrong I dump a little bit of water on his head. He loves it and we laugh the entire time while learning.

ff54d6d5-6b8e-402a-9c47-1180203a0ac6

You can find these Phthalate and BPA FREE letters at multiple locations including Meijer, www.buybabydirect.com, and Baby Depot at Burlington!

img_0004

Word Hunting. This is a fun game we’ve started to play. I write his sight words on separate little sticky notes and place them all around the house. I will tell him a certain site word and he gets to run around the house to find the correct sticky note with that word on it. If he gets them all correct without messing up, he gets a popsicle.

Now that the weather is warming up, we’ll be playing this game outside in the back yard!

What are some of your favorite activities to help your children learn to read? I’d love to add more in our routine!

What Mom’s Truly Want for Mother’s Day

We all know that us mothers love anything we get from our kids on Mother’s Day. The homemade cards and crafts, beautiful flowers, a gift card to the spa. Trust me they are all great, but if we had the chance to truly say what we really wanted, aside from the traditional gifts, I think we can all agree to the list I’ve created below.

We can always dream, right?!

Mother’s Day or not, I’m sure we’re still ready to pull our hair out at times because the kids won’t stop complaining or you’ve already heard “Mommy” for the umpteenth time. Those flowers look pretty in that vase on the counter, but you still have to clean up the house at the end of the day that the kids destroyed with their Barbie dolls and LEGO’s.

Well… here’s a few of my not so ‘traditional’ gifts that I think we can all agree sound lovely as a mother.

Sleep. All hail sleeping! If I could go a week straight with 8 hours of solid sleep each night I would feel like a whole new woman. No interruptions, no crying at night, no dogs stealing my spot in bed. I’d be one happy Mama. Maybe not even a week, give me the weekend, or even one simple night. That’s all I really need.

One. Night.

Coffee automatically made, just the way I like it. If I could walk downstairs to my Keurig each morning with a fresh 12oz coffee made with a splash of caramel almond milk creamer and two Stevia’s, my mornings would run so much more smoothly. Between waking the kids up, getting them fed, and the getting the oldest ready for Pre-K, coffee is usually the last thing that gets done before rushing out the door. Or it just gets forgotten in general and that ride to Pre-K is excruciating.

Childcare in Target. I think we ALL can agree on this one! How amazing would it be to just walk into Target, drop the kids off at the childcare center and be able to shop… ALONE. I know I’d be a fan, and it would definitely make me visit more often if that meant the kids could get their energy out while playing as I did my shopping. I just hope my husband is ready for multiple shopping sprees going on the bank card.

For the kids to actually ask Dad. Oh, you know, instead of the kids completely walking past dad, who’s just lying on the couch watch sports and asking mom to fix a toy while she’s in the kitchen making dinner for everyone, they stop and see if dad can do it first. We all know that mommy is wonder women, but daddy can do it too. We promise. He is fully capable of just about anything.

For the kids to listen the first time around. Instead of asking for the 18th time to put their shoes on in the morning, they do it the first time asked. Or, when you tell them it’s bed time, they go right in bed and go to sleep instead of insisting they are thirsty or hungry, or need to use the bathroom even though they just used it five minutes ago.

A clean home. To wake up to a clean house every morning is probably a dream for everyone, not only us mothers. Why can’t there be little magical fairies that come into our home every night to clean and prepare for the next day. They’d get a hefty tip from me, no doubt about it.

A hot steamy uninterrupted bath. Just give me thirty minutes in the tub without my little ones throwing in their rubber duckies or yelling in the other room that they need help with something. Some peace and quiet while soaking in the tub with a LUSH bath bomb sounds absolutely wonderful.

I would love to put together a survey and get the opinions of other mothers to see what they’d truly want for Mother’s Day compared to the traditional gifts we receive each year. Let me hear them!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful mama’s!

5 Tips to Keep Your Kids Hydrated

It’s always good to start a good hydration routine with your kids, especially over the summer months. Their bodies don’t cool down as easily as adults, so dehydration is at a higher risk for younger ones. I always push water on my children even when they say they aren’t thirsty. Especially since my oldest could be sweating bullets, but continues to insist he isn’t thirsty.

img_9496

I put together a list of ways to keep your kids hydrated over the summer. There are multiple ways to get water in their system other than just drinking out of a water fountain or plastic cup.

If you’re like my family, it’s a never-ending battle to get your kids to drink water. I’ll definitely be trying these tips over the summer to increase the water intake in my kiddos.

  1. Add fruits and vegetables into their daily meals.

photo-1485293992701-967314a7c495.jpg

Food such as watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, oranges, raspberries, lettuce, and celery have tons of water in them.

Mix up a smoothie for them if you have trouble getting them to eat green veggies. Add some spinach in there, along with sweet fruit.

Did you know spinach is 92% water?!

You have to sneak those in while you can. Not only will they get hydrated, but they will get their daily intake of fruits and vegetables.

  1. Make popsicles.

 photo-1504380790957-2616a8994f18.jpg

Have them make their own popsicle with fruit and water. You can even mix it up a little and use some Gatorade or Propel. I personally enjoy using coconut water.

Surprisingly enough, a two-stick popsicle has enough water to help hydrate a young one. If you don’t want to do popsicle’s, just add some fruit to ice cube trays and freeze it. It can make the water look ‘prettier’ and they might drink it more willingly.

  1. Have them choose their cup.

When a little one gets a something new, they love to use it! So, try mixing up their water bottles.

My son recently received the Nuby Thirsty Kids Flip It cup. He loves it! Especially since it’s his favorite color, green.

This BPA free 12oz (360ml) water canteen is perfect for my son since he’s constantly on the go. There’s an easy to use hygienic cover that keeps the spout clean when closed. It is made from tough durable break-resistant Tritan plastic from Eastman, and has a colorful silicone band for easy gripping. You can find multiple colors at Target.

I’ll be sure to add this into the mix of his favorite cups. It’s the perfect size for him.

e02765f6-6734-4ea8-ac72-48df216ea3bd

  1. Infuse their water naturally.

photo-1496318447583-f524534e9ce1

Have them pick out some fruits and let them add it to their water. I love lemon and mint in my water. My children love eating strawberries and blueberries, so I’m going to experiment with all different fruit varieties this summer.

Hopefully, the water won’t taste as ‘boring’ to them and they will consume more.

  1. Be a water role model.

photo-1490244266926-a2e4ec79c24c

Monkey see, Monkey do. Show them how much mommy and daddy love drinking water. I try to drink water all day long and show them how good it can be for you. I also let them know that drinking water helps grow big strong muscles.

Kind of like a flower, you water the flower than it grows big and strong. If they put water in their bodies, they grow the same.

100 Ways to Get Your Kids Outside

Happy Spring Everyone!

I am so excited that the weather is final warming up here on the east coast! I’m ready for ice cream dates and playground fun. With my youngest now on the go, I’m really excited for what this spring and summer have in store for us. Last year was difficult because she was so young so getting out was a little tough, but this year she’s able to keep up with her brother and I know they are going to have a blast.

I am big on getting the kids outside as much as possible. I like for them to be active, to run around, and just be a kid! My son is old enough to get into sports, so I really want to experiment and see what he truly enjoys so we can sign him up for a team. We’re thinking baseball, so I’m really excited. His cousin is amazing at playing ball, so I’m hoping to get them together a lot during the summer to really get my son into learning to rules of the game.

As for my one year old, I just want her to learn to love the outdoors. We’re a very ‘outdoorsy’ family, so I really don’t want my little ones to be stuck on electronics and television, especially when it’s so beautiful outside. My in-laws are getting the kids a play set for our backyard so I’m excited. That will go great with the sandbox and fire pit we currently have out there.

April Goals.

Happy April Everyone!

img_8966

So, as I did for March I am going to set some monthly goals for April. I am really starting to enjoy setting these short-term goals. They seem more achievable than when I would set a long-term goal.

With it being a new month, I’m here again to set my monthly goals for April! But first let’s recap. I want to go back to my March goals and see what I accomplished.

Get Liliana To Walk. Still a no go. But closer! She’s just about there! I give it a week or two and she’ll be all over the place.

Create an Easter Craft with the Kids. Check! Instead of a craft, we made Easter treats! We made Easter Bunny Cake Pops and Spring Flower Chocolate Pretzels. Both were super delicious!

Date Night with my Hubby. We were able to get out more than just once this month! I was so happy to have one on one time with my husband. It was well overdue. We needed it.

Mother and Son Date. We couldn’t accomplish this last month. With my husband working, and other personal conflicts going on, we did fun activities but it was with both kiddos, not just mama and son. He has spent a lot of bonding time with my hubby lately though!

Get Outside. We’ve still had cold weather, all throughout March. Even a snow storm. But, the nice days we did have we got outside. So, I’ll say this one was completed!

Explore New Recipes. I didn’t get to try as many new recipes as I would have liked, but we still tried a couple. So, I’ll say this was half completed!

March was a good one!

Let’s get into April.

I’m hoping the weather is nicer this month so some of these goals can be accomplished! Same as last month, I want to get outside.

Start a Garden. I want to spruce up my front lawn and add a flower garden. My mom bought me a Lily flower for Easter, so I’d like to get the mulch down and start off by planting that flower and going from there.

Grow My Own Vegetables. The hubs and I have been wanting to do this for a while. We love our veggies, and we really want to start our own garden in the back yard. We just never had the time. Now that I stay home, I think I can manage a veggie garden.

Add More Cardio into My Workout. With the weather warming up, I’m ready to get the little one and I out on our daily walks while my son is in pre-school, but as for now we brought our stationary bike upstairs and so far, so good with incorporating some cardio into my workout routine. I’m really enjoying it.

Open the House and Clean. Weather permitting, I really want to get the windows and doors open in the house and clean for hours. Crazy, right?! Get all the dirt and dust out of there, along with our millions of germs we’ve have cooped up in the house from all our illnesses.

Save Money for Vacation. Although vacation is in August, I want to start saving now. Just so we’ll have some extra money for the kids, alcohol, and groceries when we are down there and not having to worry about spending too much.

Clean Out the Kids Dressers/Closets. Out with the winter clothes, in with the spring. The amount of clothes my children have is unreal. I want to go through it all, find out what no longer fits and pack them away so I can fit their new clothes in there.

Does anyone else set monthly goals? I’d love to hear what you have going on in April!

Bye Bye Bottle.

Hey loves!

It’s that time again where I should try weening my little one off the bottle. My youngest is about to turn 14 months old and this girl loves her bottle, or as she would say ‘ba ba’. She has an attitude like her mama and she’s already starting with the tantrums if she doesn’t get what she wants. I have a spoiled one on my hands, so taking her bottle way is worrying me a bit.

She loves having her bottle first thing in the morning, before nap time, and before bedtime. We’ve switched out the bottle for a sippy cup when she eats her food. Sometimes she throws it on the ground and wants nothing to do with it and other times she’ll drink it, shortly to realize it’s not her bottle.

My oldest was a little hard to wean off also, but we were finally able too. After going through a handful of different sippy cups, he finally found his perfect cup and it was all a piece of cake from there on out. They didn’t have half of the options they have today back when he was weaning off the bottle.

8f90ee36-c852-4356-8123-0817873380b5

We discovered the Nuby 360 Insulated Wonder Cup and few weeks ago and we love it. It comes in a variety of colors and designs, so it’s great for any little one learning to drink from a cup!

Little miss independent loves the fact that she can look like she can drink out of the big kid cup just like her big brother does. This nine-ounce, BPA free cup is perfect for little ones 12 months and older. She’s able to drink out of the cup from any side also.

09df9d19-9e6f-4c46-99f8-baa6553383b7

With the weather being very dreary and cold here in the Central Pennsylvania, we were able to get the cup outside on a warm day while visiting the park, and the entire time it stayed cold! As a matter of fact, it can keep liquids cold for up to six hours!

296d734d-6771-4b00-8bbb-14a2eef75e41

While she hasn’t quite let go of the bottle yet, this cup is helping immensely! She won’t drop it on the ground during meal time and she genuinely enjoys drinking out of it. It’s a step in the right direction when it comes to weaning her. I was excited to discover this cup.

While you can find the cup on the Nuby brand website, you can also find it at Babies R Us.

Dove Exfoliating Body Polish. I love anything Dove. My entire family uses it. This body polish removes dull, dry skin from the surface and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. It’s created with 1/4 moisturizing cream, so it smooths your skin while exfoliating. I’m very excited to give it a try and add it to my nightly routine!

Rachel Pally Reversible Clutch. I received the Paradise clutch and it’s perfect for my style. The bright mint color is a great spring color and with it being reversible, it’s two clutches in one. I’ll take it! I’m excited to pair this accessory with spring outfits. This product is valued at $60.
