Nuby Light-Up 360 Wonder Cup

Lately we’ve become obsessed with Nuby cups. I’ve posted so many reviews for each cup and I have yet to be disappointed. Their products are so reasonably priced, have great quality and are super adorable for boys and girls of any age.

We’ve now had the opportunity to try the Nuby Light-Up 360 Wonder Cup. Just like the others, this one is another winner for my kids. It’s a 10 oz BPA free cup with beautiful light up designs. It’s recommended for 12 months and older, has a No-Spill Hygienic Cover and a double wall insulation that keeps drink cooler for longer!

My daughter likes to use this cup before bed because she enjoys seeing the colors light up while her room is dark.

So, we usually use this cup as one last bit ‘fun’ for the evening. She knows the cup has her milk in it, so she heads to bed ready to have a drink and to see the lights glow from her cup.

We kind of have a Nuby cup for every occasion. Liliana has one for gymnastics. Kyle has one to take outside with him. We never leave the house without one in our hand. Why would we though? These cups are so reliable, I never want to leave the house without one.

You can find this one at your local Walmart.

Practical Baby Shower Gifts Every Mom Will Love!

I’ve learned from being a mother myself that some of the most unexpected gifts are by far the best gifts you could receive during your baby shower. Of course, we love all of the cute clothes, soft blankets and rattles but most people (and new moms) never think of the items you’ll truly need until the time comes to use them.

I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite baby items to give (and receive) at a baby shower.

Infants Tylenol/Motrin. You can never have too much medicine for your little one. Nobody ever wants to walk through the baby isles and buy medicine as a gift… but DO IT. It will be put into great use. Trust me. You can never go wrong with this gift and to be honest, a lot of new mothers don’t think about buying medication beforehand. You never think you need it until you wake up in the middle of the night with a sick child.

Thermometer. With my first child, I didn’t even think to buy a thermometer for young children until the time came where I was asked “did he have a temperature at all today”. I felt way too embarrassed to answer with “I didn’t have one to take his temperature with”, so I completed fibbed and told them he “was just a little warm”. I will never go without one anymore.

Mommy & Me Teething Products. I think teething products that children can chew on and mommy can wear are a phenomenal idea. It makes baby happy and keeps mommy looking fashionable. I love the necklaces, but recently came across the Nuby Teething Trends Beaded Bracelet’s and thought they were a great piece. Since it’s wearable, you’ll never be without it. They have a soft textured surface for teething and comfortability while wearing. It’s BPA free and comes in mint, maroon, black, and gray. It’s the perfect size for dressing up an outfit while not looking too gaudy. Find something like it here!

Children’s Q-Tips. Sounds crazy, but it’s smart! One box of these as a gift can last for months. Maybe it’s just me, but I have a weird pet peeve about my children having dirty ears. These were a perfect and not a ‘typical’ gift for myself, so I now continue to buy them for every other mama who’s shower I attend because it’s rare they’d get a second box.

Something for Mom. Yes, baby showers are all about the baby but us mothers would love something a little special for us after the baby arrives (of before). Maybe a few bath bombs, a cute pajama outfit, some comfortable slippers to wear at the hospital. No matter what it is, it will be greatly appreciated! Something new for us might make pushing a baby out sound a little better.

What are some of the best baby shower gifts you received? I’d love to hear!

Here’s To A New Year

Have a New Year’s Resolution? Ready for a New Year, New You?

Whatever it is, you got this!

2018 was a good year, but it can be topped. We celebrated our daughters first birthday and our sons fifth. We went on an amazing family vacation, celebrated our second wedding anniversary, and updated our home. Let’s just say buying a new oven topped the list for me. Oh, the little things.

But for 2019, I’m coming in full force. I want to make it a successful year and I want to look back 365 days from now feeling fulfilled. You would think that 365 days is such a long time to carry out your resolutions, but it’s not. It goes by so quickly, in a blink of an eye. So, make the best of it.

While I do have three goals going in the new year, my mindset about carrying out these goals will be completely different. Things won’t always go as planned. Mistakes will be made, lessons will be learned, tears will be shed. Things will be broken that can’t get fixed. There will be fights and battles. You’ll feel like giving up at times and feel like the world is against you. But, positivity can go a long way and always remember you grow through what you go through and come out stronger than ever.

With that being said, here’s my three…

I want to visit places. I want to get away from Central Pennsylvania at times and explore. To start 2019 off right, we’re visiting Boston the first weekend in January. It was a last minute, spontaneous trip that I am so excited for. I also want to visit wineries, all over. If you already didn’t guess, I’m quite the wine drinker. I love wine tasting and exploring different flavors and makes. It can be day trips or weekend trips, but this mama is doing it.

Organizing is going to be a big priority this year for me. We have a nice size home, but not large enough for the number of toys these children have. 2018 ended with toys thrown in random bins, missing pieces to everything, and broken toys taking up space. That’s no longer the case. I’ve spend these past few weeks throwing away the old and bringing in the new. I’ve hung up an adorable dry erase calendar, to do list board, and mail holder. With t-ball, soccer, gymnastics and more on the agenda this year, a planner and calendar are a must in this household.

Remodeling the home is going to be the biggest project this year. We’ve recently bought new kitchen appliances and are installing a new kitchen floor as I type this. I’ve bought all new home décor and I can’t wait to get rid of these ugly yellow walls. We are painting the entire bottom floor of our home. We’re also hoping to install all new hardwood floors. Let’s just say, I’m ready for the change. It’ll be a long stressful process but so worth it.

New Year, New Home!

With those being the top on my list, of course I’ll stick to the basics too. Going places with my kids, keeping up with my exercising and eating healthy, getting outside more, having date nights. Those are a given and will be happening throughout the year. I’m not really the person to set resolutions, but I like to have a positive mindset going into the new year. If these ideas don’t get accomplished, so what. That doesn’t mean my year will be unsuccessful or that I can’t continue to push towards these goals for another year.

Happiness is most important. Positivity and kindness can go a long way.

I hope everyone has an amazing New Year.

Why I Switched to an Electric Toothbrush

Hey Everyone!

Let me start off by saying…

How did it take until I was 27 to switch to an electric toothbrush?! I’ve been doing it all wrong for years. I’ve always thought that no matter what the brand, style, shape, etc. was, the cleanliness of your teeth would always turn out the same. You know, brush twice a day, floss, rinse and you’re good. Your teeth can only get so clean right? WRONG. My teeth have never felt better lately. Even my gums have felt better. Anyone else suffer from bleeding gums? I do, but not so much anymore. You’ll see why a little further down in this post.

Processed with VSCO with au1 preset

Not only did the cleanliness of my teeth guide me to stick with an electric toothbrush. There is so many reasons why an electric toothbrush is just… better. Especially my new cariPRO Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush by Smile Brilliant.

The storage. Anyone else have a mason jar full of manual toothbrushes? I do. Well, I did. Instead of throwing away a toothbrush every time we received a new one, we just kept piling them in there. To the point where they could barely fit. It got to the point where trying to shove your toothbrush back in there was more of an effort then brushing your teeth in the first place. Now, we have one waterproof cariPRO toothbrush handle (with FIVE brush modes) and two cariPRO Premium Brush Heads. One blue one silver, DuPont bristles, built in tongue scrubbers, and a rubberized head to protect tooth enamel. The handle sits nicely on a charging base and has a modern, sleek look.

My kids want to brush their teeth MORE. YES. You read that right. My children thought my new electric toothbrush was so cool, they had to get some of their own. We make fun out of brushing our teeth now. We all brush together saying we are going to “tickle our teeth” and they LOVE it. Like I mentioned earlier, my gums have never felt better. All because my cariPRO toothbrush has five brush modes.

  • Clean. The standard mode for a superior daily cleaning.
  • White. The most powerful mode to help remove surface stains, polish, give you a vigorously deep clean.
  • Massage. A gentle gum pulsation for gum stimulation.
  • Gum Care. For gentle cleaning along the gum-line. (Now you know why I mentioned earlier about my gums no longer bleeding)
  • Sensitive. Perfect for sensitive gums and teeth. Use this mode if you find the default clean mode slightly too aggressive.

My children enjoy choosing what “mode” I use each time and they pretend along thinking they are doing the same thing with their teeth.

Processed with VSCO with au1 presetProcessed with VSCO with av4 preset

My tooth brush keeps time for me. You know as a kid, you were told to sing the ABC’s twice in your head because it equals out to about 2 minutes. Which is the standard time to brush your teeth twice a day. Well, no more keeping track! The cariPRO Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush has four 30 second bursts of vibrations. For each quadrant of your mouth. I won’t lie, it makes me feel more accomplished after brushing my teeth, knowing that I did it for the full two minutes.

Processed with VSCO with au1 preset

Say ‘bye’ wine and coffee stains. If you know me, you know I love my coffee… and wine… a lot. What I don’t like is those pesky little stains they can leave on my teeth. I have noticed significant changes in my teeth after brushing with my CariPRO toothbrush. I’ve learned that harder is not better. Gentle brush strokes at a 45-degree angle is all you need to demolish those coffee and wine stains and the pulsations of the cariPRO do the trick.

Processed with VSCO with fp2 preset

I could rant and rave about this product for hours, but we all know one of the most important questions, how much is the product? Trust me, as a mom of two, splurging on pricey things isn’t in my budget what so ever. But, the cariPRO Ultrasonic Toothbrush offers optimal performance for half the price of comparable electronic toothbrushes. Clean teeth don’t have to be expensive and Smile Brilliant showed me just that with this fantastic toothbrush.

You guys have no idea how grateful I am to be able to pair up with Smile Brilliant for an awesome GIVEAWAY! Enter here now for your chance to win this amazing toothbrush!

Awesome Target Finds Under $5: Part Two

Hey Everyone!

I had such a blast posting about my first bunch Target finds from Bullseye’s Playground, I just had to do another post. Plus, it gives me more of a reason to stroll through those wonderful little isles. With school still a few weeks away, Target is really focusing on school supplies for teachers and children. This works out great for me currently because my little one is home with me all day and my oldest only goes to preschool two days a week now. I am starting to teach my youngest numbers and letters while trying to keep my oldest up to date with his math and spelling.

My last post involved just about all children’s products and this one does too. That’s mom life for ya! Next time I am going to focus on us adults. I honestly cannot get over how inexpensive these products are.

I am eager to use these products with my kids and I believe they are going to be a great implement for learning. Plus, they seem enjoyable also. It goes outside of the box instead of just writing in a notebook.

So, here is my recent finds.

Chalkboard Clock.

My four-year-old is really showing an interest in learning to tell time. He is always asking what time it is and also trying to figure it out on his own. This product is perfect for only $3. You can write the numbers on the wooden clock yourself and move the hands wherever you please to show various times of the day. I will have him practice moving the hands himself and have him try to guess the times I give also. We have it hung up by his bed so every morning and night he sets the time before getting out of bed.

Chalkboard Sign.

Perfect for my ‘Mommin’ on a Budget’ motto. Only $5 for a perfect ‘first day’ and ‘last day’ photo of each school year. I was honestly contemplating buying a pricey sign for one picture, but once I saw this I was sold. I can erase it each year and use it for the next. Money well spent! I am really excited to use the same board for every year my children go to school. When the graduate, I will make a cute collage of each year.

Learning Books.

Just $1 each, that is it! They have multiple books to choose from. We picked up addition, subtraction, and printing practice for my oldest. He enjoys practicing addition on his fingers, so I am hoping these will get him more involved with mathematics. The printing practice will keep him up with writing his letters while he is not at preschool.

95041ed5-22f7-44fd-93dd-7b6679424c73

Alphabet Blocks.

These are for my girl, my youngest. I am so excited to start teaching her numbers and letters and these blocks will help tremendously! Since I am now staying home I do not foresee sending her to preschool any earlier than a year before kindergarten (maybe), so mama will be doing the teaching. She has already dug into them and enjoys playing with them, which is a plus. They also have adorable little pictures that you can match the letters to. You can get them for only $3!

Activity Paper Roll.

Thirty feet of fun! For only $3 you can hang this on your child’s wall and they can go to town with tracing numbers and letters, learning time, coloring, learning shapes, and plenty more! I am really going to take advantage of this for my oldest to help his spelling and time telling. I am going to have him trace his letters and then try to spell out words himself. I think he will really enjoy it.

Stay tuned for next month to see my next set of Target finds!

I hope you enjoy!

I’m That Mom.

I’m that mom who lets her kids eat a few chips in the morning, so I can enjoy my coffee.

I’m that mom who lets her kids wear what they want even if they look ridiculous.

I’m that mom who lets her kids skip a bath for a night or two. (Sometimes three)

I’m that mom who packs the occasional Lunchable in her kid’s lunch box, because I don’t feel like making a sandwich.

I’m that mom who lets her kids watch TV or their tablet, so I can have some peace and quiet.

photo-1518878603059-096e7dfbbd6e

I’m that mom who tells her kids no three times in a row but still gives in.

I’m that mom who lets her kids drink soda occasionally, because I know they like it.

I’m that mom who sometimes gives her kids sugar right before bed even though I know it will keep them up.

I’m that mom who bribes her kids to sit still and smile so I can get the occasional ‘perfect’ picture.

I’m that mom who spends unnecessary money on toys when I know the kids already have enough, then complains about how much money was spent.

photo-1516050327434-9d06ea9bfae8

I’m that mom who will leave to go somewhere extra early because I know the kids will fall asleep in the car, and I can too for a little while.

I’m that mom who lets her kids hang in the other room unattended while I go get something.

I’m that mom who let’s her kids get filthy dirty while playing outside. (That’s what play clothes are for!)

I’m that mom who accepts that jumping in the pool is the same as a nightly bath during the summer.

I’m that mom who drops her kids off late to pre-school.

photo-1508729557222-19d3dfdad3a3

I’m that mom who forgets to sign important forms that need to go back to school.

I’m that mom who promises she’ll do something for her kids ‘tomorrow’ but just hoping they forget.

I’m that mom who occasionally curses in front of her kids, and then tries to hide the laughing when they repeat me.

I’m that mom who tells her kids the police will come get them when they are doing something wrong.

I’m that mom who will take a picture of her kids failing at something before helping them, because it’s just too damn funny.

photo-1501000035983-81d40027814a

I’m that mom who eats her sweets after the kids go to bed, so I don’t have to share.

I’m that mom who lets her children sleep in the clothes they had on all day, because they don’t feel like changing into pajama’s.

I’m that mom who occasionally scares her kids, because we get a good laugh out of it afterwards.

I’m that mom who will drive though McDonald’s to get her kids a Happy Meal, because I just don’t feel like cooking dinner.

I’m that mom who will throw some of her kids’ art work away because we already have so many already.

photo-1471342051519-9621d25323fc

No mom has their sh*t together. No mom has the most perfect well-behaved kids. No mom’s life is perfect. Mom’s screw up, mom’s make mistakes, mom’s just don’t give a sh*t sometimes. It’s life, it’s just how it goes. But when we tuck our kids in at night and hear the words “I love you”, in their eyes you’re doing it all right. I know mine think I am, no matter what kind of mom I am.

Do I think I’m a bad mom because of what I do? No. Do my kids still have manners and respect? Sure do.

I’m still one bad ass mama to my little’s.

What do you mama’s do sometimes, just because? I’d love to hear! We aren’t alone on this one. I honestly find it humorous to see what we all do. It’s a good thing to express because we all know that no mom is perfect!

Taco Tuesday featuring Nuby 3D Silicone Bib

Taco Tuesday is a weekly event in our household. We are definitely taco lovers. They are quick and easy to make and my kids eat them up.

Who would have thought my one year old would like tacos?

But then again, who doesn’t?!

One thing I do know is that my little one makes a complete mess while eating her taco dinner. Food gets all over her outfits (and stains), it falls all in between her legs, it goes all over the floor.

Let me just say, my one dog has gained 22 pounds since she’s been born. They definitely get the good end of the stick when it comes to her dinner time.

Food gets everywhere! I’ve even went to change her diaper a few times and found Fruit Loops and Cheerios stashed in there.

It looks like we may have found a solution though.

We got our hands on the Nuby 3D Silicone Bib. On the first wear, this mama was SO happy.

You guys, the mess was half of what it usually was!

The food fell right into the scoop pocket of her bib so it didn’t get all over her. The silicone was super soft on her delicate skin, and cleaned so easily with just a few wipes, and NO STAINS. I can’t tell you how many bibs I have ruined from the stains they received during Taco Tuesday.

They are also BPA Free. Always a plus!

c2a6da78-2d20-4169-9aea-8e8c359a8182

Let me also say, a good portion of her food didn’t go waste by falling under her. She saw where it landed, picked it up and kept on eating. My girl loves her food and we don’t like putting food to waste.

Looks like my pup won’t be gaining anymore human food weight!

I also really enjoy how easily this bib rolls up so we can take it on the go to restaurants and on day trips. The designs are adorable for boys and girls, of course! Nuby never fails with adorable designs.

044f38fe-dfd6-46e9-bb04-eccfde379157

Find them here at the Nuby website!

It’s perfect for little ones six months and older. There is little holes on the back of the bib to keep the perfect fit as they grow (because we all know that happens way to quickly).

You will get good use out of it. My daughter is 17 months old and we love it! I wish we would have started with it when she was younger.

You don’t know how much of a relief it is as a mother to have one less thing to clean up throughout the day.

Nuby has totally made Taco Tuesday’s even better!

Tips to Help Your Child Become More Independent

Teaching your child independence can be a difficult task. I mean how can you blame them? They are born into a world where we feed, change, and bathe them. They are reliant on us for everything. As they grow older, you struggle to find the ‘right’ time to give them independence (I know I do).

  • We don’t want them making a mess everywhere, so we do it ourselves.
  • You don’t have enough time in the morning for them to change themselves because their muscles immediately become lifeless, so it feels like hours for them to take their socks off
  • They melt your heart because they assume you don’t love them because you are refusing to help (holy mom guilt!)
  • They cry and get frustrated, and you don’t feel like listening to it
  • They get more soap and water on the bathroom floor then their bodies
  • Your anxiety shoots through the roof just looking at the mess they are making

The list could go on and on, but of course you don’t want your child growing into their teenage years being completely dependent on mommy and daddy. Trust me, I’m totally guilty of ‘not cutting the cord’ as my husband would say and helping my kids with everything.

Give yourself (and them) some extra time. You always should remember in the back of your head that they are learning, it doesn’t take a few minutes to completely tackle something you’re not used to doing. Think about it…

  • It’s hard to run a marathon if you’ve never ran before
  • It can take a few tries to perfect a new meal if you’ve never cooked
  • You don’t learn to swim after the first time in a pool

1

Things take practice, so your little ones need that extra time. I’ve started giving my son and myself 20 minutes of extra time every morning so we don’t get behind and he can do his morning routine on his own.

Organization. I’ve learned that an organized environment is extremely helpful for a little one becoming independent. My son has an organizing shelf in his room that toys used to be thrown into randomly.

  • Cars mixed with LEGOs
  • Trains mixed with Action Figures
  • Paw Patrol mixed with Blaze and the Monster Machines

That’s no longer happening. We now place each item into different bins so the process of cleaning his room is easier. He quickly knows where everything goes, and he doesn’t get super frustrated during the cleaning process. Now that he is starting to read, I’m going to label each bin so he can read off what toy goes where.

d0545ba3-e56f-4b2f-bf71-9a450d0448c6

Use safer and smaller cleaning supplies. A big responsibility I’m trying to teach my son is cleaning up after himself.

  • He leaves his juice boxes laying around
  • gummy wrappers sitting on the couch
  • plates left on the dinner table with crumbs all over the floor.

Luckily my son enjoys cleaning, but only when Mommy is doing it too. When he must clean up his own mess, it becomes devastatingly hard to accomplish. So, to help him out we bought a mini broom and gave him his own little bin of rags, wipes, and a small spray bottle of kid-friendly cleaner. If he gets to spray something, he loves it. So, I try to work around what he enjoys so it becomes a ‘fun’ chore to tackle in his mind.

Let your kids know you trust them. There is where the ‘cutting the cord’ comes into play for me. Give them some freedom when it’s time to play or clean up.

  • Allow them to go outside while you watch from afar
  • Leave their bedroom when it’s time to clean it
  • Have them run out and check the mail while your inside

This can be a huge confident booster for your child and it can help make them believe they are capable of more, but you will always be there for assistance. It could reduce the number of outbursts with them complaining that they can’t do it or that it’s too hard. Maybe it’ll also motivate them to do more independently.

Be there for them. Always be their number one motivator. Stay calm and motivate them along the way. If there’s a mess after they attempt to pour their milk alone, tell them it’s okay and that they are learning. Grab a rag and have them clean it up. If you get upset then that will make them upset, and their confidence goes out the window. Praise and positivity are two great ways to communicate to your child.

3

Independence is a learning experience in the end. There will be multiple failed attempts before you succeed.

That goes for adults too. We’ve gone through it.

With success, comes reward. My son knows that if he successfully completes his chores, he receives a dollar. When he doesn’t complete his chores, or complains then he loses a dollar.

I do believe in letting your kids be rewarded when they complete what they are asked, but I also don’t want them to become greedy, hence why the money will be taken too.
