Nuby Light-Up 360 Wonder Cup

Lately we’ve become obsessed with Nuby cups. I’ve posted so many reviews for each cup and I have yet to be disappointed. Their products are so reasonably priced, have great quality and are super adorable for boys and girls of any age.

We’ve now had the opportunity to try the Nuby Light-Up 360 Wonder Cup. Just like the others, this one is another winner for my kids. It’s a 10 oz BPA free cup with beautiful light up designs. It’s recommended for 12 months and older, has a No-Spill Hygienic Cover and a double wall insulation that keeps drink cooler for longer!

My daughter likes to use this cup before bed because she enjoys seeing the colors light up while her room is dark.

So, we usually use this cup as one last bit ‘fun’ for the evening. She knows the cup has her milk in it, so she heads to bed ready to have a drink and to see the lights glow from her cup.

We kind of have a Nuby cup for every occasion. Liliana has one for gymnastics. Kyle has one to take outside with him. We never leave the house without one in our hand. Why would we though? These cups are so reliable, I never want to leave the house without one.

You can find this one at your local Walmart.

Practical Baby Shower Gifts Every Mom Will Love!

I’ve learned from being a mother myself that some of the most unexpected gifts are by far the best gifts you could receive during your baby shower. Of course, we love all of the cute clothes, soft blankets and rattles but most people (and new moms) never think of the items you’ll truly need until the time comes to use them.

I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite baby items to give (and receive) at a baby shower.

Infants Tylenol/Motrin. You can never have too much medicine for your little one. Nobody ever wants to walk through the baby isles and buy medicine as a gift… but DO IT. It will be put into great use. Trust me. You can never go wrong with this gift and to be honest, a lot of new mothers don’t think about buying medication beforehand. You never think you need it until you wake up in the middle of the night with a sick child.

Thermometer. With my first child, I didn’t even think to buy a thermometer for young children until the time came where I was asked “did he have a temperature at all today”. I felt way too embarrassed to answer with “I didn’t have one to take his temperature with”, so I completed fibbed and told them he “was just a little warm”. I will never go without one anymore.

Mommy & Me Teething Products. I think teething products that children can chew on and mommy can wear are a phenomenal idea. It makes baby happy and keeps mommy looking fashionable. I love the necklaces, but recently came across the Nuby Teething Trends Beaded Bracelet’s and thought they were a great piece. Since it’s wearable, you’ll never be without it. They have a soft textured surface for teething and comfortability while wearing. It’s BPA free and comes in mint, maroon, black, and gray. It’s the perfect size for dressing up an outfit while not looking too gaudy. Find something like it here!

Children’s Q-Tips. Sounds crazy, but it’s smart! One box of these as a gift can last for months. Maybe it’s just me, but I have a weird pet peeve about my children having dirty ears. These were a perfect and not a ‘typical’ gift for myself, so I now continue to buy them for every other mama who’s shower I attend because it’s rare they’d get a second box.

Something for Mom. Yes, baby showers are all about the baby but us mothers would love something a little special for us after the baby arrives (of before). Maybe a few bath bombs, a cute pajama outfit, some comfortable slippers to wear at the hospital. No matter what it is, it will be greatly appreciated! Something new for us might make pushing a baby out sound a little better.

What are some of the best baby shower gifts you received? I’d love to hear!

Helping Your Toddler Get to Sleep at Night: Our Personal Tips.

If you have a toddler, like mine, who refuses to sleep because she thinks she’ll miss something, getting them to sleep can be a difficult task.

The “cry it out” method is a no go in our household. My toddler will stand on the side of her crib and scream for hours until mommy or daddy comes to the rescue. We are not the parents who co-sleep either. If you do, that’s awesome. With my anxiety and constant worry of my little ones falling from our bed, there is no way I’d ever get a good night’s rest. Plus, my kids sleep like ninja’s. I’ll pass on getting kicked in the head in the middle of the night.

photo-1521804569552-2d8b03be780a

We’ve done trial and error with numerous bedtime rituals and we’ve seem to have figured out what works best.

Yes, every child is different, but if I can enlighten others on our nightly rituals you never know who it could help.

You never know unless you try, right?

White Noise. Yes, yes, and more yes! We put a humidifier in my daughter’s room that makes the perfect white noise sound. We have it running even before she goes into her room to sleep. It blocks out any other noises that might startle her throughout the night and helps her fall asleep faster. We use the Vicks Starry Night Humidifier. It gives off enough white noise to block unwanted noises, and you can also insert Vicks Vapor Pads when the little ones are sick!

NewProducts_1550x1550_V3700M

Brush Their Teeth. Now that my daughter has plenty of teeth, we are starting to brush them every single night before bed! I’ve made it more into a “before bed” chore.  Both of my kids know that brushing their teeth is one of the last things they do before bed. My daughter is very picky when it comes to food and certain flavors. We got our hands on some Nuby All-Natural Toddler Training Toothpaste. It has a fun and tasteful tutti frutti flavor that she loves. It’s safe to swallow, non-toxic, and fluoride free. It’s BPA free and made right here in USA! It’s also endorsed by Pediatric Dentist Dr. Grace Kim – Founder of Yummy Dental and Orthodontics for Kids in Chicago, IL.

If you purchase the toothpaste, it comes with a bonus toothbrush! It has an easy grip handle (perfect for those little hands!), comes in a variety of fun, bright colors and designs, BPA free, and has soft bristles to gently clean those little precious teeth. You can find this at Babies R Us and Kmart!

Rub their head. Something about rubbing the back of my daughter’s head is incredibly soothing to her. She’s been putting her hand on the back of her head since birth as a soothing mechanism when she’s tired. It’s the sweetest thing.

If your child doesn’t like the head, try their back or arms. Every little one is different! My oldest loved his back rubbed when he was a little one, and it still works to this day at four years old!

Show them you’re going to bed too. Every so often, I’ll lay on my daughter’s room for just a few minutes to let her know we are “going to bed” too. Even if we aren’t, it helps ease her mind knowing she’s not missing out on anything fun. I’ve been starting to let her know that Mommy is going to bed too by putting on pajama’s myself. Usually both my children go to bed at the same time, so I’ll put my oldest to bed first so she sees that he is going to sleep also.

img_2389

Stuffed Toy. No Minnie, No Sleep. Something about hugging Minnie tight at night is a good way to get my toddler to sleep. It seems like a comfort thing knowing that she has something lying in bed with her. She’s starting to say “Minnie” at night when I lay her in her crib, and it melts my hearts. Whatever your child is into grab a stuffed animal of their favorite cartoon or movie and have them snuggle up to it.

I’ll look at her monitor at night when she’s asleep, and she never let’s go of her Minnie.

Have the room dark. My husband and I always turn the lights off and the humidifier on before we take her into her room. Walking into the dark room lets her know it’s time for bed and we are not coming in here to play.

Since we started this, and now that she has caught onto it, she now lays her head on our shoulders. This made me believe that this is a good tip to helping her get to sleep, because before when the light was on she’d throw a fit.

photo-1481728236344-b5c828da9edf

These pre- bedtime rituals have really helped our toddler get to sleep at night. She’s a wild little one so if these nightly steps work for her, I’m sure it can help another mama. Give them a go, let me know what you think!

Taco Tuesday featuring Nuby 3D Silicone Bib

Taco Tuesday is a weekly event in our household. We are definitely taco lovers. They are quick and easy to make and my kids eat them up.

Who would have thought my one year old would like tacos?

But then again, who doesn’t?!

One thing I do know is that my little one makes a complete mess while eating her taco dinner. Food gets all over her outfits (and stains), it falls all in between her legs, it goes all over the floor.

Let me just say, my one dog has gained 22 pounds since she’s been born. They definitely get the good end of the stick when it comes to her dinner time.

Food gets everywhere! I’ve even went to change her diaper a few times and found Fruit Loops and Cheerios stashed in there.

It looks like we may have found a solution though.

We got our hands on the Nuby 3D Silicone Bib. On the first wear, this mama was SO happy.

You guys, the mess was half of what it usually was!

The food fell right into the scoop pocket of her bib so it didn’t get all over her. The silicone was super soft on her delicate skin, and cleaned so easily with just a few wipes, and NO STAINS. I can’t tell you how many bibs I have ruined from the stains they received during Taco Tuesday.

They are also BPA Free. Always a plus!

c2a6da78-2d20-4169-9aea-8e8c359a8182

Let me also say, a good portion of her food didn’t go waste by falling under her. She saw where it landed, picked it up and kept on eating. My girl loves her food and we don’t like putting food to waste.

Looks like my pup won’t be gaining anymore human food weight!

I also really enjoy how easily this bib rolls up so we can take it on the go to restaurants and on day trips. The designs are adorable for boys and girls, of course! Nuby never fails with adorable designs.

Find them here at the Nuby website!

It’s perfect for little ones six months and older. There is little holes on the back of the bib to keep the perfect fit as they grow (because we all know that happens way to quickly).

You will get good use out of it. My daughter is 17 months old and we love it! I wish we would have started with it when she was younger.

You don’t know how much of a relief it is as a mother to have one less thing to clean up throughout the day.

Nuby has totally made Taco Tuesday’s even better!

Bath & Pool Fun with Nuby Bath Links

Hey Everyone!

We got our hands on some Nuby Bath Links for my daughter and they are quite the hit with her! I won’t lie, even my four-year-old son enjoys playing with them. These are great for learning and having fun all at the same time.

They come with an adorable starfish, crab, and turtle along with multiple links in different shapes.

These bath links are great for little ones six months of age and older. They come in an adorable package of fifteen links. I really like how the package has a handle so it’s easy for even the young ones to carry around. My daughter enjoys carrying them around in their package and they have really helped her with her coordination and development, and it gives her something to play with while I wash her hair.

b3e07910-5dc5-4165-915e-f9a6d73a4c43

They are BPA free, just like most other awesome Nuby products! You can find them on Amazon too! One of my favorite places to shop.

We have used these links in the tub, but since the weather has gotten nicer we brought them out to the kiddie pool to play also. My daughter really enjoy’s this because she can squirt them wherever she wants outside and rearrange them in all different orders.

We also started to pretend that the pool was an ocean for the turtle, crab, and starfish links and we were keeping them safe in their home.

They truly bring out the imagination in my kiddos.

I really enjoy how versatile this product is. We have used them in the tub, the pool, and even without water. They are so fun!

It makes me so happy as a mother to know that Nuby puts out products that help my children develop while having fun at the same time.

Learning To Read

Hi Everyone!

We are at the stage where my oldest is starting to learn how to read. I am so impressed with how well he is doing for only being four years old. He is learning so much at his pre-school, I couldn’t be more thankful!

But it’s not all that wonderful when we get home. I always here how phenomenal he does in school, so I want him to be able to do the same at home.

Besides his occasional homework he must complete, I wanted to find different ways to incorporate learning to read words at home also. We’ve came up with a few ideas that are really helping advance in his reading skills so of course we wanted to share.

Reading. Of course, this a no brainer. Obviously reading books helps you learn to read. What we do is I read most of the book. Any sight word I see that I know he has learned at pre-k, I stop and see if he’s following along and I let him read those words. We go through the books together and both read. It’s a fun way for him and I to have some bonding time, all while learning at the same time.

Bath Time Letters. We’ve recently gotten our hands on some Nuby Bath Letters and Numbers. These are a must buy for little ones 18 months and older who are learning the alphabet, spelling words, and reading. Let’s not forget there are numbers included, which is great for learning also! These soft foam letters float in the water and easily stick to the walls to make spelling words so simple. It includes all 26 letters and numbers 1-10. They are so fun for bath time.

2721537a-f8d6-4095-a5b2-817e354517bc

My son enjoys attempting to spell certain words I ask him spell (especially his name), or I’ll spell a word and make him read it.  To make it a little more fun, if he gets the word wrong I dump a little bit of water on his head. He loves it and we laugh the entire time while learning.

You can find these Phthalate and BPA FREE letters at multiple locations including Meijer, www.buybabydirect.com, and Baby Depot at Burlington!

Word Hunting. This is a fun game we’ve started to play. I write his sight words on separate little sticky notes and place them all around the house. I will tell him a certain site word and he gets to run around the house to find the correct sticky note with that word on it. If he gets them all correct without messing up, he gets a popsicle.

Now that the weather is warming up, we’ll be playing this game outside in the back yard!

5 Tips to Keep Your Kids Hydrated

It’s always good to start a good hydration routine with your kids, especially over the summer months. Their bodies don’t cool down as easily as adults, so dehydration is at a higher risk for younger ones. I always push water on my children even when they say they aren’t thirsty. Especially since my oldest could be sweating bullets, but continues to insist he isn’t thirsty.

img_9496

I put together a list of ways to keep your kids hydrated over the summer. There are multiple ways to get water in their system other than just drinking out of a water fountain or plastic cup.

If you’re like my family, it’s a never-ending battle to get your kids to drink water. I’ll definitely be trying these tips over the summer to increase the water intake in my kiddos.

  1. Add fruits and vegetables into their daily meals.

photo-1485293992701-967314a7c495.jpg

Food such as watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, oranges, raspberries, lettuce, and celery have tons of water in them.

Mix up a smoothie for them if you have trouble getting them to eat green veggies. Add some spinach in there, along with sweet fruit.

Did you know spinach is 92% water?!

You have to sneak those in while you can. Not only will they get hydrated, but they will get their daily intake of fruits and vegetables.

  1. Make popsicles.

 photo-1504380790957-2616a8994f18.jpg

Have them make their own popsicle with fruit and water. You can even mix it up a little and use some Gatorade or Propel. I personally enjoy using coconut water.

Surprisingly enough, a two-stick popsicle has enough water to help hydrate a young one. If you don’t want to do popsicle’s, just add some fruit to ice cube trays and freeze it. It can make the water look ‘prettier’ and they might drink it more willingly.

  1. Have them choose their cup.

When a little one gets a something new, they love to use it! So, try mixing up their water bottles.

My son recently received the Nuby Thirsty Kids Flip It cup. He loves it! Especially since it’s his favorite color, green.

This BPA free 12oz (360ml) water canteen is perfect for my son since he’s constantly on the go. There’s an easy to use hygienic cover that keeps the spout clean when closed. It is made from tough durable break-resistant Tritan plastic from Eastman, and has a colorful silicone band for easy gripping. You can find multiple colors at Target.

I’ll be sure to add this into the mix of his favorite cups. It’s the perfect size for him.

e02765f6-6734-4ea8-ac72-48df216ea3bd

  1. Infuse their water naturally.

photo-1496318447583-f524534e9ce1

Have them pick out some fruits and let them add it to their water. I love lemon and mint in my water. My children love eating strawberries and blueberries, so I’m going to experiment with all different fruit varieties this summer.

Hopefully, the water won’t taste as ‘boring’ to them and they will consume more.

  1. Be a water role model.

photo-1490244266926-a2e4ec79c24c

Monkey see, Monkey do. Show them how much mommy and daddy love drinking water. I try to drink water all day long and show them how good it can be for you. I also let them know that drinking water helps grow big strong muscles.

Kind of like a flower, you water the flower than it grows big and strong. If they put water in their bodies, they grow the same.

Use these tips to go along with my other post, 100 Ways to Get Your Kids Outside!

Bye Bye Bottle.

Hey loves!

It’s that time again where I should try weening my little one off the bottle. My youngest is about to turn 14 months old and this girl loves her bottle, or as she would say ‘ba ba’. She has an attitude like her mama and she’s already starting with the tantrums if she doesn’t get what she wants. I have a spoiled one on my hands, so taking her bottle way is worrying me a bit.

She loves having her bottle first thing in the morning, before nap time, and before bedtime. We’ve switched out the bottle for a sippy cup when she eats her food. Sometimes she throws it on the ground and wants nothing to do with it and other times she’ll drink it, shortly to realize it’s not her bottle.

My oldest was a little hard to wean off also, but we were finally able too. After going through a handful of different sippy cups, he finally found his perfect cup and it was all a piece of cake from there on out. They didn’t have half of the options they have today back when he was weaning off the bottle.

8f90ee36-c852-4356-8123-0817873380b5

We discovered the Nuby 360 Insulated Wonder Cup and few weeks ago and we love it. It comes in a variety of colors and designs, so it’s great for any little one learning to drink from a cup!

Little miss independent loves the fact that she can look like she can drink out of the big kid cup just like her big brother does. This nine-ounce, BPA free cup is perfect for little ones 12 months and older. She’s able to drink out of the cup from any side also.

09df9d19-9e6f-4c46-99f8-baa6553383b7

With the weather being very dreary and cold here in the Central Pennsylvania, we were able to get the cup outside on a warm day while visiting the park, and the entire time it stayed cold! As a matter of fact, it can keep liquids cold for up to six hours!

296d734d-6771-4b00-8bbb-14a2eef75e41

While she hasn’t quite let go of the bottle yet, this cup is helping immensely! She won’t drop it on the ground during meal time and she genuinely enjoys drinking out of it. It’s a step in the right direction when it comes to weaning her. I was excited to discover this cup.

While you can find the cup on the Nuby brand website, you can also find it at Babies R Us.

All In One On The Go Snacking.

My wonderful husband bought me a brand-new car about three months ago. A beautiful all black Toyota Rav-4. You can pretty much call her my third baby. We made a deal to not allow anyone to eat in car so it can stay nice and clean. Well, that lasted about two weeks… if that. We did great for the first two weeks. We only brought water in there and everything else was consumed in the house before we left. Then the busy, rushed mornings kicked into full gear where my son would refuse to eat breakfast all morning then decided he was hungry right before we had to leave for Pre-K. Of course. I couldn’t let him go to school hungry so he started taking breakfast in the car, whoops. He is in love with eating cereal without milk. That’s usually his breakfast. So, I would fill a little sandwich baggie full of cereal and let him munch on it on our ride to Pre-K and I’d fill a separate sippy cup with some water for him to have. No Biggie.

Of course though, forgetting he’s only four, whenever we arrived at daycare my car would either be filled with dropped cereal all on the floor or a torn-up baggie would be laying on the seat. Then, his sippy cup of water would be spilled on the seat or laying on the floor slowly leaking.  He’d never fail to make a mess with his food and drink.

So much for a ‘food free’ car. I kind of knew that wouldn’t last long. Especially with two young kids. Just the other day I was feeding my one year old french fries on the ride down to visit my parents.

Anyway, I’d constantly hear

“Uh-oh mommy, I dropped my snacks again”

“Oh darn, now all my snacks are dirty”

You would think I would have learned the first time that my son was going to make a mess, but you know, as a mom you always try to give them a million opportunities to do it the right way.

I mean.. it’s how they learn, right?

2c774053-7086-49ef-9b6d-59d03b08b7a5-1

Then! A few weeks ago, we were introduced to the Nuby Snack N’ Sip Cup. Not only did I instantly fall in love with it’s adorable design, my son was ready to rip the cup right out of the packaging as soon as he seen it. It’s an adorable little pirate theme, and he just loved the fact that he could have his snack and drink in one place. It’s a spill proof cup for ages one and older. It has a soft, flexible silicone straw and it’s BPA free. You can find it in multiple designs here. The lid to the snack container easily snaps shut, so if the cup gets dropped the snacks won’t go flying and the drink doesn’t spill. It’s wonderful when it comes to being on the go! He was so excited about his new cup, he wanted to take it into Pre-K to show all his friends and I’m excited that my car no longer gets full of cereal!

d7383594-ef9a-4c31-b79c-b01aba12431d

This cup is a total win for me. My car stays much cleaner, he is learning to put to his cup in the cup holder and snap his snacks shut when he is done and I’m not going through a ton of sandwich baggies every week. I just rinse the cup out and it’s good to go for the next day. It’s the perfect size to put a good portion of snacks into the top and plenty of room for liquids on the bottom. I’ve come across cups where the snack holders were super small and barely any snacks fit into it. This is the first cup where I didn’t run into that issue. I love it! If now I could only find a fix for the muddy shoes and toys everywhere. Maybe one day!
